End Use Facilities

The primary reason for developing bicycle end‐of‐trip facilities is to encourage the use of bicycles as a mode of transportation. CWATS plans on developing end use facilities along the paths and trails, for people of all ages to enjoy.

There are a number of things that should be considered including the provision of:

  • Safe and secure bicycle parking;Bike rack with bikes
  • Shower facilities;
  • Changing rooms;
  • Safe and convenient access;
  • Bike racks for short term parking;
  • Bike lockers for long term parking; and
  • Furniture including facilities with benches, maps, garbage receptacles, washroom facilities, water fountains and trail lighting.

Installation of cycling racks at key locations through the County of Essex:

  • Schools;
  • Libraries;
  • Arenas;
  • Soccer fields;
  • Municipal buildings; and
  • More.

These cycling racks should be highly visible for people to see.

Exercise equipment on paths and trails

Exercise equipment along paths and trails are available at some locations including Optimist Park in Lakeshore. This exercise equipment will help promote extra physical activity when using the paths and trails.
